Getting Started

What is Orion's Plan?

Orion's Plan is a comprehensive restaurant booking and management platform that helps restaurants manage reservations, menus, pre-orders, floor plans, deposits, private dining enquiries, and guest communications in one system.

How do I sign up as a restaurant?

Visit the registration page and choose "Restaurant". Fill in your restaurant details, create your account, and you can start setting up your venue immediately.

What information do I need to get started?

You'll need your restaurant name, address, contact details, opening hours, and optionally your menu and floor plan layout.

How long does setup take?

Basic setup takes minutes. A complete setup with floor plan, menus, and all features typically takes under an hour.

Booking Management

How do I create a manual booking?

Go to Bookings, click New Booking, select date/time/party size, enter guest details, and confirm. You can also create bookings from the floor plan view.

How does automatic table assignment work?

When a booking is created, the system automatically assigns the best available table based on party size, area preferences, and existing reservations.

Can guests book online?

Yes. Enable online bookings in your settings and guests can reserve through your restaurant's public profile page on Orion's Plan.

What booking statuses are available?

Bookings can be Booked, Confirmed, Seated, Completed, Cancelled, or No-Show. Statuses update automatically based on actions taken.

Menu Management

How do I create menus?

Go to Menu Manager, create menu items with prices and allergens, organise them into categories, then build complete menus from your items.

What types of menus can I create?

Standard menus and multi-course event menus. Multi-course menus support course-by-course guest selection for events.

How does pre-ordering work?

Assign a menu to a booking. Guests receive a link to select their dishes before a deadline. You can view, edit, and print pre-orders for service.

Floor Plan & Seating

How do I create a floor plan?

Go to Settings > Floor Plan. Create areas, add tables with shapes and capacities, arrange them visually, and save your layout.

Can I have multiple dining areas?

Yes. Create separate areas (e.g., Main Dining, Terrace, Private Room) each with their own tables and layout.

What do the table colors mean?

Green = available, Blue = booked, Orange = seated, Red = blocked. Colors update in real-time.

Payments & Deposits

How do I set up payment processing?

Connect your Stripe account in Settings > Billing. Once connected, you can collect deposits and process payments.

How do I collect deposits?

When creating a booking, enable the deposit option and set the amount. Guests pay via a secure Stripe payment link.

How do refunds work?

Refunds can be processed from the booking details. You can issue full or partial refunds, which are processed back through Stripe.

Making Bookings

How do I make a booking?

Find a restaurant, select your date and party size, choose an available time slot, enter your details, and confirm your reservation.

Do I need an account to make a booking?

You can book as a guest, but creating an account lets you manage bookings, view history, and save preferences.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Some restaurants require deposits for certain bookings. This will be clearly shown during the booking process.

Pre-Ordering Meals

What is pre-ordering?

Pre-ordering lets you choose your dishes from the menu before your visit, so the kitchen can prepare in advance.

How do I pre-order meals?

After booking, you'll receive a link to select your dishes. Browse the menu, make your choices, and submit before the deadline.

Can I change my pre-order?

Yes, you can modify your selections until the pre-order deadline set by the restaurant.

Managing Your Bookings

How do I view my bookings?

Log in to your account and go to My Bookings to see all upcoming and past reservations.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to My Bookings, select the booking, and click Cancel. Check the restaurant's cancellation policy regarding any deposits.

Payments & Deposits

How do I pay the deposit?

You'll receive a secure payment link via email. Click it to pay using your card through Stripe.

Will I get my deposit back if I cancel?

This depends on the restaurant's cancellation and refund policy, which is shown during booking.
